When i was on my mission i got to serve in a place called Bartlesville, Oklahoma. i was there for 4 1/2 months. when i was there i baptized two wonderful women, Jan and Stephanie Vineyard. i grew to love that family! it was hard to leave that place when the time came to go. as i was serving the rest of my mission, Krista was baptized. as i came to the last 3 months of my mission i was called BACK to bartlesville. the only one left of the Vineyard family not baptized was Kenny. the last few months of my mission was filled with fasting and hard work. on my last week of my mission i baptized kenny! the whole family took huge steps to becoming together forever! this is one of my favorite memories!

Spring Break!

Spring break was not long enough! It was fun though. It started off on Saturday when Jamie, Kimm, and I went to a concert. It was sweet! The bands where not well know in Boise I’m guessing because there was only a handful of people there. It was a nice intimate concert. We got to meet a lot of band members and get autographs. The band we went to see was Swimming with dolphins. And they did not disappoint!
The next day Kimm and I Traveled to Salmon, Idaho to visit her brother. It was fun. we got to play around with a few of his guns. We shot at a pumpkin and as you can see it did not last long.
We did a lot of driving and saw many cool things. Here is a few pictures I took-

After a few days we came back to Boise and played a lot of basketball and watched general conference. It was a good spring break! 5 weeks left of the semester! Woot!

so i hear that there is going to be a teacher protest at the capital building tomorrow after school. i guess the plan is for every one to make a human chain around the capital along with other protests and thing. sounds like a good time to get a few pics of people protesting. i think it would be cool to capture some idaho history in the making. i dont know that much about the bill that is trying to get passed but i do know that losing 770 teaching jobs is not going to help our great state get any better. or help Kimm find a job teaching for that matter. there seems to be a lot of people against the bill and yet the ones with the power to change things wont listen to what the people want. i guess that goes to show us that we need to make sure that we are voting for people who will made the right decisions when that time comes to stand up for what is right. any who thats enough politics for me today. so things are going well with life. im about half way done with this semester and i am passing all my classes with a B or better. i should be getting on the deans list this semester if all keeps going well. i am loving all the snow! it feels like christmas again! but in march. also found out today that there is wild hogs in idaho. What the heck? wild hogs? thats so cool! there not as big as the razorbacks in arkansas but it's still cool.

a good weekend

this weekend was super fun! it was kimm's birthday so jamie and i took her down to lagoon. i love lagoon this time of year because of frightmares. its fun to walk around the park and see zombies or mosters just walking around bugging people. we went on almost very ride we could. i finally got to ride the Wicked! and that ride was sooooooo fun! it was.....wicked!
this ride starts by shooting you strait up and then you fall strait down. this picture dosent show just how tall this tower is. but it was tall. one of the tallest rides at the park. after you fall down it then turns in to a normal roller coster until you start to twist. so this ride gets 5 stars from me. it was fun.
then saturday was a crazy day! or at least in the college football world! #1 ohio state went down and so did #5 nebraska! so boise state moved up in the polls to #2 and oregon to #1, but then the BCS polls came out today. boise state is #3 and oklahoma is #1 and oregon #2. i think oregon we get a lose sometime soon but as for oklahoma im not sure. so it would be cool to see oklahoma and boise play again only this time for the championship! a 2007 tostitos fiesta bowl rematch! there is still a lot of football to be played but its getting so exciting to see a non AQ team getting a change to get in the championship game! Go Broncos!
....so lets see .... school. school is going good. i am having problems in only one class right now and its an english lit. class. right now we are studying poetry and its kicking my butt. im ready for next semester. well its late and im going to bed. i will live yeah with some pics im working on now.

hey world! long time no talk to! its been forever since i have blogged on here. life has been crazy. so i have been out of school for awhile now and i still feel weird. i feel like im forgetting to do some homework or reading. its been nice having a break from school. as must of you know i had a job at Wendys as a shift supervisor but that is no more so i am looking around for jobs again. my photography business is starting to boom a little bit. i have a wedding to shoot for here at the end of the month.....maybe... the couple cant seem to decide if they want to get married or not... but then i have a few other things to do after that. i have business cards and a website/portfolio thing. heres a few recent pics....

my friend jamie moved back to caldwell! woot! i went down to salt lake to help him move. it was a fun few days. and of course, with every utah trip i had to see the little man turkey! heres a cool pic of him....

i have been very active lately, been going on a lot of walks and hikes. i plan to do a lot of camping this summer. amber is loving all the parks we go to. she is been going crazy with all the new smells and new things to see. i am loving all the sweet picture taking moments im finding. this is my frist real summer home off my mission because last summer i was in school in rexburg. so im going to have fun while i can!

the challenge the book of mormon makes to the world

if one does not believe the explanation of the book of mormon given by missionaries, they assert, in other words, that it is false, born of the fantasy and talent of an ordinary man. that which is created by a man can always be imitated by another man; the challenge the book of mormon makes to the world is that of imitating it and duplicating it. given that the book conforms to each of the items listed below, you also can observe them to be able to produce a similar document.
this is the challenge.

1. write a history of ancient tibet that covers the period from 2200bc to 400ad. (why tibet? because you dont know much more about tibet than joseph smith, or anyone else at that time, knew about ancient america.)

2. are you 23 years old?

3. do you have less than 3 years of education, and have you spent your life in a rural community?

4. draw from only your personal knowledge to write your history. at the time of joseph smith there weren't libraries from which to research information, so it must be the same for you.

5. your book must be 522 pages long and contain more than 300,000 words. 54 chapters must be about war, 21 must be historical, 55 must contain visions and prophecies, 71 are doctrinal in nature, and 21 are about the ministry of christ. every word contained in these chapters must agree with that which is written in the bible.

6. apart from a few grammatical corrections, there should not be any editing changes to your text. the first edition must remain just as you have written it forever.

7. this manuscript must contain the history of two distinct nations, as well as the history of other contemporary nations. you should describe their cultures and their religious,economical, political and social institutions. it should contain information regarding every aspect of society, including the monetary system.

8. change your writing style several times because the book was written by several different authors, each one with their own manner of writing.

9. your narration should include the modes of transportation used, whether the people used fire or not, descriptions of their clothes, etc. you need to use at least 200 new names that will be examined over the passage of time and give their derivations.

10. you should use similes and metaphors, and narrative, descriptive, epic and lyric oratory styles.

11. your history cant contain any information that may contradict that which is already included in the book.

12. your book must result in being one of the most widely printed and read books in the world.

13. you must publish your book for every nation, kindred, tongue and people, declaring that it is the word of god, and therefore, another testimony of jesus christ.

14. you must assert that your book is not simply a novel with a moral base, but a truly sacred history. weave into the history ideals of christian life and the religion of jesus christ.

15. your history must complete and clarify many prophecies contained in the bible.

16. four honest and dignified citizens from your community must testify that the book you have written is the word of god, rather than a fruit of your own imagination. such a testimony must be inserted in the beginning of your book.

17. many of the facts and assertions contained in your book should be in contradiction with much of what is commonly accepted in the world.

18. at the end of the work, you must invite studious and able experts to carefully examine your text, and see that your book ends up in the hands of people who are anxious to prove it false. these people must be the most competent and qualified to explain its every imperfection.

19. an intensive investigation, scientific and historical, as well as evidence from the past 150 years of archaeological discoveries, should verify your assertions and prove that they are true.

20. many theories regarding the origin of the book will arise, but all must fall. you have asserted that your knowledge is of divine origin and this affirmation stands as the only explanation.

21. over the past 150 years, thousands of great men, personalities and scholars must accept your history and its teachings to the point of sacrificing their lives, rather than deny them.

22. millions of people must witness in the following years that the truth of your text has been revealed to them by the power of the holy ghost.

23. more than 60,000 missionaries must currently be so convinced of the truth of your book to be happy to dedicate 2 years of their lives at their own expense and without any personal gain, apart from spiritual joy, to spread the truth of it in all the world.

24. your book should inspire and uplift millions of people in a way that they may be an example for the world.

25. for the next 20 years you must see your followers and your family persecuted, cast out, beaten, suffer from hunger and the cold, killed. tens of thousands of people must submit to the worst adversity only because they believe your writings.

26. a the end your your book, you must include this promise; Moroni 10:3-5

27. you will earn nothing from your work; on the contrary, you will lose all that you have and will be persecuted. after 20 years of this kind of lifestyle, you will be killed to give a greater testimony of the truthfulness of your book.

28. you start immediately to write this book, but not in the quiet of your home, but fleeing from one area to the next, constantly menaced by dangerous people. your friend must mortgage his house in order to obtain funds for the publishing of the book. Everything must come to pass in 60 days.

so i think im in week 7 or 8 of school now. things are going good. i have A's in every class but Geology. i remember thinking "geology...that sounds easyer than chem or bio." boy was i wrong. at least i know im not ment to be a geology major. i find it boring to study rocks and dirt...not my cup of tee. i have been working on my photography skills lately. mostly because i am in the running for a few photography scholarships....woot! because of this, i have decided to double major in theatre arts and in forensic photography. i have been doing a lot of freelance so far. heres are a few things ive been working on. there not done yet but almost.

i have been learning the new aperture 3 that came out for mac not to long ago. its fun. its just a trail version so im going to have to get it after i learn how to use it. i like it a lot.
the job search is still going on. i have applied to at least 50 places now and still no calls for interviews. tomorrow i plan on going to boise and looking around for some more places. so wish me luck! ...i think i might go take some pics in boise tomorrow as well...

so today has been a good day so far but then i saw this in the news.....

and then i read this....

"Boise State University President Bob Kustra told lawmakers the school's reserves covered a 6 percent holdback in state funding this year, but proposed cuts for next year are of great concern.

Kustra told the Joint-Finance Appropriations Committee Tuesday that students are shouldering a much larger share of the school's educational costs amid declines in state funding.

Tuition covers about 43 percent of the costs, up from 24 percent a decade ago, the Spokesman-Review reports.

The governor's budget for the next fiscal year proposes spending $35.1 million less on Idaho's four-year colleges and universities next year, a 14 percent decrease in state funding compared to current spending on higher education."

.....this makes me sooo mad to see that they are going to raise the tuition for state funded schools! they already did this once before a few years back! the governor needs to make better choices on where money is going in Idaho. i was going to just barely get enough for tuition for Boise State in the fall but if they up tuition i am not sure if i can come up with an extra $1,000 or whatever its going to be with out going in to hardcore debt by the time i get my degree.

The oyster

there once was an oyster whose story i’ll tell,

who found that some sand had worked under his shell.

just one little grain but it gave him a pain,

for oysters have feelings that are very plain.

now did he berate this working of fate,

that left him in such a deplorable state?

did he curse the government, call for an election,

and say that the sea should have some protection?

no! he said to himself as he sat on the shelf,

“since i cannot remove it, i think i’ll improve it.”

well, years passed by, as years always do,

but the small grain of sand that bothered him so

now this tale has a moral, for isn’t it grand,

So college has started and here i am thinking... what did i get my self into... When i signed up for my classes last semester i was thinking this was going to be a easy semester, but i am now proven wrong and its only day 2.i am taking Geology 101 with a lab, Theater 101, CPR and 1st Aid, College Algebra, and i am taking Art History 101. so i was thinking the hardest class would be Algebra because i haven't taken a math class since 2003. turns out i am right but also Geology is not that easy and my art class is online which means there's alot of essay writing to be done. its still to early to tell if i will do well or fail this semester but i am already having problems with my algebra homework... i hate math sooooooo much. i'm glad i just need a C in that class. its the only math class i have to take for my major!
